History of Fire Dance Church

  • Beltane 2002: Discussion begins about forming a Wiccan church to serve the Northwest Florida area
  • May 25, 2002: Announcement made at Greenman Family Gathering about formation of Church.
  • April 29, 2002: FDCoW YahooGroup was founded and announced to local pagan groups
  • May 31, 2002: The State of Florida grants FDCoW tax-exempt status.
  • Lammas 2002: First Official ritual held in ritual space behind Rev. Livingston's house
  • November 8, 2002: The Federal Government grants FDCoW its 501 C status.
  • August 2003: FDCoW receives notice they must obtain a Condidtional Use Permit to continue meeting at the house.
  • September 30, 2003: Rev. Livingston files for the Conditional Use Permit
  • November 6, 2003: The Santa Rosa County Zoning Board voted unanimously to deny the permit.
  • January 5, 2004: FDCoW appeals the Zoning Board's decision to the County Commissioners and wins!
  • April 2004: FDCoW becomes an official Aquarian Tabernacle Church.
  • July 1, 2004: Catholic Chaplain of local federal prison invites FDCoW to lead Wiccan study group for inmates.
  • September 15, 2004: NW Florida is pounded by Hurricane Ivan. The Church's ritual space was battered badly and lost 8 trees. Many thanks to BAPS for their help clearing out the debris!
  • May 2005: FDCoW begins supporting the Intercommunity Family Campouts.
  • May 19, 2005: FDCoW and the Aquarian Tabernacle Church part ways.
  • July 10, 2005: NW Florida is struck by Hurricane Dennis, uprooting more trees from the property.
  • August 29, 2005: Hurricane Katrina glances past NW Florida to strike full-force in Louisianna and Mississippi.
  • January 2006: FDCoW has a MySpace!
  • May 2006: FDCoW opens a Cafe Press store!
